Real-Time Revision Management

On a fast-tracked project, “Revision 0” is rarely the final word. Change orders can stem from a variety of sources: updated mechanical requirements, architectural refinements, or unforeseen site constraints.

Dynamic Updating: When a design change occurs, we don’t just update a single drawing. We update the Tekla 3D model, which automatically ripples the changes through every affected shop drawing, erection plan, and material list.
Revision Tracking: We maintain a meticulous “Revision Cloud” system and history log. This allows all stakeholders to see exactly what changed, when it changed, and why, ensuring that the fabrication shop never works from an obsolete set of plans.
Impact Analysis: Before a revision is finalized, we provide an analysis of how the change affects the surrounding steel, identifying potential new clashes or weight increases.

As-Built Documentation (The Digital Legacy)

Once the steel is erected, the “As-Built” drawings represent the final, accurate state of the building. This is a critical deliverable for owners and facility managers.

Field Correction Integration: If a beam had to be modified in the field or a hole was re-drilled to accommodate a site condition, we capture that data. We update the 3D model to reflect the actual physical structure, not just the original design.
Handover Readiness: We provide high-fidelity “As-Built” IFC models and PDF drawing sets that serve as a permanent record for future building renovations, expansions, or maintenance.
Laser Scan Integration: For complex renovation projects, we can incorporate point-cloud data from site laser scans into our model to verify that the as-built steel aligns perfectly with existing site conditions.

Comprehensive Field Assistance

Our role often shifts from “detailer” to “consultant” once the steel hits the site. We provide the technical backbone that helps erectors solve problems in real-time.

RFI Support: We provide rapid responses to Requests for Information (RFIs). If an erector finds a conflict, we jump into the model, visualize the issue, and provide a 3D sketch or “sketches for information” (SKIs) to resolve the problem instantly.
Erection Sequence Visualization: If a particular joint is proving difficult to assemble, we can provide 3D “step-by-step” assembly views derived from the model to guide the field crew through the correct installation sequence.

Standards, Compliance, and Integrity

Even during the revision phase, our work is governed by the highest industry standards:

AISC Code of Standard Practice: We manage the “Legal” aspect of revisions, ensuring that all changes are properly documented and approved by the Engineer of Record (EOR), protecting the fabricator from liability.
AISC & AWS Compliance: Every revision to a connection or weld is re-verified against AISC and AWS codes to ensure that “quick field fixes” don’t become structural liabilities.
